Ten years ago (and just recently on Instagram) I featured Nikolai Lutohin's work for Galaksija. All of the scans are by Milena and Vlada, the duo behind Yugodrom—a (defunct) tumblr focused on "graphic aesthetics from ex Yugoslavia." For a few years they posted weird gems from the seventies and eighties.
Back then, Milena and Vlada wrote to me suggesting that the "surrealistic, sci-fi-sh, serigraphic and absolutely amazing" illustrations of Nikolai Lutohin would be suitable for 50 Watts. I'm glad they reached out! The Russian artist Lutohin (1932-2000) was born in Yugoslavia and did many illustrations for Galaksija. He went to art school in Budapest, lived in Moscow for twenty years, and then in Munich (where he died). He was a prolific illustrator for fantasy and sci-fi publishers.
A couple years after my initial post, Yugodrom scanned some more images, shown here.
